    Life in the Freezer ~ Part 2

    It had to come, it was inevitable...the cold returned once again with a vengeance. As you can see, even though it is melting fast, there is very deep snow here. Over a foot at any rate. I saw drifts over 6 feet deep on the way up here. The images below are not out of focus...they are showing how hazy it looks from all the airbourne drifting snow that is in the air coming off the moors. You cannot even see Slemish for all this lofted ice. Here is what it was like with the view from the top. The whole of North Antrim has been plunged back into arctic like conditions. This snow storm came with very strong winds probably up to 70 mph at this height. There are trees and power lines down all over this area. Power was off for 40,000 homes. Dreadful conditions saw cars & motorcycles abandoned at the road side. By far the worst conditions of the winter (although it is Spring now) were seen last night. I went to the Four Winds area of Belfast last night and the roads were simply impassable. It was a blizzard.
